October 3, 1947, Helsinki, Finland – The heavyweight contestants of the 82.5+kg tournament are lined up for the introduction at the 1947 European Championships in Helsinki (left to right):

M. Karsch (Finland, 85.85kg), Gosta Magnusson (Sweden, 85.4kg), Niels Peterson (Denmark, 94.40kg), Abraham Charite (Netherlands, 90.45kg), Vaclav Becvar (Czechoslovakia, 106.7kg), Nikolay Laputin (USSR, 103.1kg), Yakov Kitsenko (USSR, 108kg), H. Osten (Denmark, 94.3kg)

It was the first post WWII European Championships and the first Europeans with the Soviet athletes competing.
