Jan Nagy (b. 1945) competed for the national team of Czechoslovakia from 1972-1979. The photo on the cover depicts an unusual look of Jan without his famous full-grown beard that he had in the later years of his career.
Jan Nagy was a 5x national champion of his country (1973-1975, 1977-1978). He represented Czechoslovakia at the 1976 Summer Olympics where he won the 4th place with a 387,5kg total (160+227,5).
Nagy was one of 4 lifters of Team Czechoslovakia in the Club 500 with a 535kg entry based on his total reached at the 1972 European Championships in Romania (535kg=190+140+205, May 21, 1972). His personal best in a 2-lift era was 415kg (175+240) in Teplice, 1978.
In his career, Jan Nagy authored numerous national records including the best clean-and-jerk of 242.5kg.
