Light Heavyweight Olympic Medalists (1952)

History in Color:

July 27, 1952, Helsinki, Finsland – Olympic medal winners in the 82.5 class at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki (left to right):

Stan Stanczyk (USA, silver medal, 415kg), Trofim Lomakin (USSR, gold medal, 417.5kg), Arkady Vorobyev (USSR, bronze medal, 407.5kg).

The 1952 Olympics in Helsinki was the 2nd post WW2 Summer Olympics tournament and the 1st Olympics with the Soviet team in it. All three athletes on the cover photo were memorable figures in the history of this sport and have several chapters about them in the  History in Color series and at the Lift Up project.
