60 Years Ago: Soviet Champions and the Capitoline Wolf in Rome (1960)

Rome, Italy, September 1960 – Soviet weightlifting champions Arkady Vorobyev and Yury Vlasov are being seen in front of the Capitoline Wold statue while walking on the streets of Rome during the 1960 Summer Olympics.

On the cover photo, famous twin brothers Romulus and Remus of the Capitoline Wold statue are covered by massive shoulder muscles of the Russian athletes. Both Arkady Vorobyev and Yury Vlasov won the gold medals at the 1960 Summer Olympics in the 90kg and the super heavyweight class respectively.
