Flyweight Winners in Ulm, Germany in 1972

History in Color:

March 4, 1972, Ulm, Germany – Top 3 flyweight contenders receive their awards in the 52kg weight class at the pre-Olympic international tournament in Ulm, Germany (left to right):

Mustar Mustafov (Bulgaria, 2nd place), Adam Gnatov (USSR, 1st place) and Mackiewicz (Poland, 3rd place)

During the competition in the 52kg class, Adam Gnatov managed to set two world records in the press lift – 118kg and 120kg. Needless to say, none of this winners were selected to represent their country at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich that was held 6 months after the pre-Olympic international tournament in Ulm.
