Sergey Lee (Kyrgyzstan)


History in Color:

One of the best Soviet light heavyweights of the 1980s, Sergey Lee of Frunze, Kirgizia,  competes in the 82.5kg class at the 1986 USSR Championship at the Izmaylovo Arena in Moscow, Russia.

Sergey Lee (b. 1962) was a World vice champion in 1987 and 1990.

Lee also won a bronze (1985) and a silver (1988) medals at the Europeans championships.

He won the USSR championships 3 times –  in 1987, 1989 and 1990.

In 1987, Segey won the USSR Cup in the middleweight class.

At the USSR National Spartakiads in 1983 (75kg) and 1991 (82.5kg), Sergey Lee won 2 bronze medals

History in Color:

Olympic champions, middle heavyweight Valery Shary of Minsk, Belarus and super heavyweight Sultan Rakhmanov of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine are smiling during the training session of the national team in 1979.

Both Shary and Rakhmanov were candidates to compete for the Soviet Union at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.

A year later, Sultan Rakhmanov won the Olympic champion title in the 110+kg weight class in at the Izmailovo Arena in Moscow.
