On the cover History in Color series photo,  Olympic champion Sultan Rakhmanov of Avangard, Dnepropetrovsk,  competes in the super heavyweight class at the 1979 USSR Spartakiad in Leningrad, Russia.

Besides winning the Olympic super heavyweight title in in 1980, Rakhmanov was a 2x World champion (1979, 1980) and a European champion (1980).

On the international arena, he also won the Druzhba Cup in 1979 and the Baltic Cup in 1976 and 1978.

Sultan Rakhmanov set two world records and 7 national records in his career in Olympic weightlifting.
